Icy road (Test course for motor vehicles)
Produces artificial snow, rain, and fog for use at motor vehicle test tracks.

Applications and markets

Creates a wide range of conditions with artificial ice surfaces, snow-packed road surfaces using artificial snow, and dry road surfaces for road testing tracks.

[Typical applications]

1. Windscreen wiper testing (rain, snow)

2. Headlight testing (fog, rain, snow)

3. Brake testing (ice pan, compressed snow surface)

4. Front grill and under-chassis  testing (rain, fresh snow)
Artificial snow pan

The Mayekawa artificial ice pan system draws extensively on the company’s experience in dealing with ice and considerations regarding environmental protection.

1. Expertise with ice

Mayekawa has long been involved in making ice specifically for use in seafood processing, foodstuffs manufacture and transport, ice skating, research, and air-conditioning.
Mayekawa’s artificial ice pan allows ice to be made with a variable coefficient of friction.
Ice crystals and ice temperature are key factors in varying the coefficient of friction. Mayekawa has accumulated a unique store of experience by analyzing data correlating to different coefficients of friction.

2. Environmental protection

Amid increasing attention focused on environmental issues(*) such as global warming and ozone layer depletion, Mayekawa has taken the lead as a refrigeration system manufacturer to develop products that use refrigerants with zero ozone depletion potential and global warming potential. Even the brine used complies with the PRTR Law.

Artificial snowfall system

The Mycom artificial snowfall system creates snow, rain, and fog for use at automobile test tracks. The system was developed to provide falling precipitation.
Adding the MST to conventional artificial ice pans or dry road surface test systems expands the range of road surface conditions that can be simulated in road tests and enables visibility tests for snow, rain and fog conditions.

Features

1. Produces snowfall, rainfall and fog from heights of 3 to 12 m (variable).
2. Allows adjustment of parameters for snowfall, rainfall, and fog (precipitation rate and droplet size).
